A Winter Walk

Beneath the hush of winter’s grace,

A quiet world in soft embrace.

The snow falls light, a holy shroud,

Whispering peace through skies unbowed.

The trees stand robed in crystal white,

Their branches catch the sun’s gold light.

Ruby cardinals dart through the pines,

While blue jays sing in vibrant lines.

A mourning dove coos soft and low,

As sparrows dance on fields of snow.

A chickadee, with feathered cheer,

Fills frosty air with songs sincere.

Be still, my soul, let striving cease,

For here is found a boundless peace.

In frozen fields, in twilight’s nod,

The voice resounds: “I am your God.”

Through amber glow of setting sun,

Through sapphire shadows, day is done.

No need to wander, fight, or roam—

The Maker calls; the snow is home.

So pause beneath the winter’s glow,

Where robins watch and finches show.

Be still and trust, for you will know:

In every color, breath, and trod,

You walk with me; I am your God.

In the Stillness of the Grove

Beneath the vaulted canopy of green,

Where sunlight weaves a dappled sheen,

I wander slow, my spirit bare,

Through nature’s chapel, steeped in prayer.

The piney air, the earthen loam,

A whisper says, “You’re not alone.”

The birds sing hymns, the brook gives voice,

In every sound, I hear rejoice.

Each leaf a psalm, each stone a creed,

Each breath a gift to fill my need.

I kneel before the cedar’s might,

Its shadow cast in holy light.

“O God,” I whisper, “You are here,

In trembling leaf, in grazing deer.

In mossy paths, in skies so vast,

In present calm, in echoes past.”

The wind becomes Your gentle word,

Your mercy in the songbird heard.

I lift my hands, my heart in awe,

To thank the One who made it all.

For every tree, for every stream,

For every hope, for every dream,

I give You thanks, Creator wise,

For woodland depths and endless skies.

And as I rise, my spirit whole,

Creation’s beauty floods my soul.

Through forest trails, I now depart,

With heaven’s peace alive in heart.
